This generation of f-150 is at peak “rusty shitbox” around here (older ones have disappeared, newer ones are holding on; though these are getting to be less common
), it’s weird to see one so clean.

There’s a spot along the PCH in Malibu where I am pretty sure it’s a constant battle of people throwing the no parking signs in the ocean because I see cars parked there all the time and signs missing often. I mistakenly parked there once and thankfully was not ticketed. I saw no signs and a few cars parked so I figured it was good. When I got back from my hike, I realized that there were a couple of stumps from signs and one of the signs down in the weeds. But some in the distance still up clearly indicating that parking was not actually allowed anywhere in that area.
So moral of my story is that if the sign “ aint there” , clearly people will think down with the establishment, time to park!

So, I’m curious- if that’s not a parking spot, what is it? I can’t t ell from here if that’s a sidewalk or what.

It’s an end-curb with some plants. Shopping plaza design isn’t really regulated in the Republic of California, so every plaza is totally different in layout.
Lots of ambiguities inherent to such a variety of parking setups, hence the cone & sign to clarify. The truck isn’t strictly blocking traffic, but certainly constricting traffic flow.

Not currently painted as such (it probably ought to be red curb though for safety reasons .)
Seems to be the plaza ownership’s decision to add the sign, but clearly this F-150 felt it was unfair.
